A special live solo by Joan As Police Woman, on the occasion of the event Jeff Buckley Eternal Life – an exhibition by Merri Cyr at Locus festival 2022

With free admission in Piazza Aldo Moro in Locorotondo, the concert will be preceded by an interview conducted by Carlo Massarini.

Among the best examples of songwriting in the history of American music, JAPW has recently released the new album ‘The Solution Is Restless’.
With her unmistakable voice and her charismatic stage presence, Joan will bring the music of the Locus festival back to her historic square, for the first time since the years of the pandemic.

She will perform highlights from her remarkable songbook stretching right back to her classic debut (Real Life, 2006). For these concerts Joan strips back her original music to its very essence using only her voice, piano and guitar, and as always when Joan sings straight from her heart, people listen, intently.

On being a musician, Joan said, “Music has saved my life. It’s not something I can even choose or not choose, it’s just what it is.”

Alongside consistent creativity and live performance she regularly says ‘yes’ to a wide variety of interesting collaborations including those with: Damon Albarn, Gorillaz, Lou Reed,  Tony Allen, Beck, Afel Bocoum, Meshell Ndegeocello, Toshi Reagon, David Sylvian, Benjamin Lazar Davis, Sparklehorse, Laurie Anderson, Sufjan Stevens, John Cale, Aldous Harding, Woodkid, Justin Vivian Bond, RZA, Norah Jones, Lau, Doveman, Rufus Wainwright and Daniel Johnston.

Sunday Times – ‘Sensational’  // Uncut – ‘This is breathtakingly good music’  //  Mojo – ‘full of meditative beauty…ravishing and lovelorn’  //  The Guardian -‘a voice so wondrous and moving that it makes everyone else’s seem ordinary and mundane’   // Q – ‘Beautiful’  //

Joan As Police Woman solo shows are always in high demand, living long in the memory of her passionate fans and music lovers globally.

A GREAT PREVIEW OF THE LOCUS FESTIVAL 2022 IN THE PORT OF BARI: THE BRITISH BAND ALT-J IN CONCERT ON SATURDAY 18 JUNE, PRESENTS THE NEW ALBUM “THE DREAM”. EXCLUSIVE DATE IN SOUTH ITALY.

By Locus 2022 eng, Senza categoria @en

The eighteenth edition of the Locus festival will have a great anticipation in the Port of Bari on Saturday 18 June 2022, with the exclusive concert of alt-J, one of the most important English bands of the last decade.
Tickets available from 10am on November 18th in preview through My Live Nation, and then on general sale from 10am on November 23rd on Dice.fm, Ticketone.it and Ticketmaster.it.

With three albums behind them, a Mercury Prize in 2012 and multiple GRAMMY and BRIT Awards nominations, the famous indie-rock band created in Leeds by Joe Newman (vocals, guitar), Gus Unger-Hamilton (vocals, keyboards, bass) and Thom Sonny Green (drums, percussion) is about to release his fourth album “The Dream” in February 2022.

Anticipated by the singles “U&ME” and “Get Better”, the album recorded during the lockdown promises to be the most mature, representative and experimental alt-J record ever.

In recent years, the three English guys have become the most important indie experience in the world, with gigantic tours as headliners in all the major festivals and continuous sold-out. The long and forced break from live has allowed them to return to focus on production, and now they are ready to return to the stages stronger than before.

With this prestigious first announcement, the Locus festival 2022 reconfirms the increasingly “widespread” character of the festival, with the central part of the program in August in Locorotondo, and a series of large unique events in splendid locations in various Apulian municipalities.

The area chosen for the alt_J concert, exclusively for all of southern Italy, is in the Port of Bari, an evocative place of culture, tourism and hospitality. Thus, the collaboration with the administration of the Apulian capital continues, which has already been successfully tested in the past two editions.

“Rising sun” is the claim designed for the Locus festival 2022, with the traditional circular sign redesigned with the rays of a star. Tthe sun of the new Locus is already rising!

The theme of the Locus festival 2022, 18th edition, The Rising Sun

By Locus 2022 eng, Senza categoria @en

Expanding energy, like a star, like the sun rising over Puglia in the summer. The circular sign of the Locus turns 18, and from its historic center of Locorotondo it connects other cities and districts.
The house of the rising sun is the title of an ancient traditional folk song, taken up in the most diverse musical contexts, from The Animals to Nina Simone, from Bob Dylan to Miriam Makeba and many others. One of the first to document it was the ethnomusicologist Alan Lomax, a true inspirational figure for the musical attitudes of the Locus festival.
We have reached maturity, but the core of our star remains passion and cultural warmth.
